I'm 5'7 and my height requirement is 6'0! I will drop it down to 5'10 but that's seriously as low as I can go. I know they always say that when you're dating, the first thing you should drop is your height requirement but I feel like I am just not attracted to "short" guys... except for friends.

Anyway, it's nice that you had some good times at least in what sounds like a sea of mismatched men. Good luck!

My now-husband and I nearly never had a second date because he was unaware that the only requirement for a first date was not completely sucking... he expected hearts and flowers whereas i was more like, 'hey, i didnt 100% hate you or find you offensive - lets go out again'.

in the end, it turns out i was right... and its awesome to watch the expressions of others when we tell them that we kind of hated eachother that first night, but not enough to not go out one more time, just to make sure.

I've convinced a lot of people to go out with someone a second time on that story alone...

so here's to guys you dont hate!

You know how people like to say that when they met their spouse for the first time, they "just knew"? Well, my now-husband and I like to say that the reason we went on a second date with each other was because the first one "didn't suck".

Haha. After many years of dating (for both of us), we both came to the realization, that "not sucking" was really the best you could hope for on a date with a complete stranger. It's a totally reasonably, healthy expectation. And boy, does it take the pressure off! And all the dates after that? Just got better and better.

I'm 5'7" and have always had issues with heights as well. It seems every time I found a tall guy their were either already taken (by an even shorter girl) or they weren't all that interesting.

I overlooked the height issue once as I got to know a cute red-head 2 years ago and we've been together since. We're the same height so he's not shorter... unless I wear heels. :P

At 5'10" my dating height minimum is a little more stringent at 6'0". I am jealous of your 5'9" requirement. How many more possibilities you must have! Trying to find a tall enough guy in DC is like trying to find a unicorn. Your plan sounds much more manageable. Good luck!
